Why Choose A.T. Drone Services?

We are fully licensed, insured, and comply with all applicable FAA Requirements.

  • We are local and we know the industry

We have been in the Roaring Fork Valley for over 15 years. Nathan is a professional engineer and has been in the structural engineering design industry for nearly 2 decades.  We know the level of expectation from our AEC colleagues.  We know the clientele from Rifle to Glenwood Springs to Aspen.

  • Why not buy my own drone?

Why don’t I just buy a drone from Walmart or Amazon and fly it over my project myself? I have spoken with too many architects and engineers who ordered a drone from Amazon or picked one up at Target and tried.  The vast majority of them either crashed it into something or admitted it was too much of a pain to get proficient with the flight controls. Now that drone is either broken or collecting dust in a drawer.  As well, capturing images for a quality digital double is not as simple as “just taking pictures.”  There is a particular process and workflow to capture quality images in the field so that those raw images can be translated into a high-quality digital double.  The image processing requires specific powerful computers and expensive processing software.  Even inside of that software there are dozens of variables that can be tweaked to yield different results before our end-client ever sees the final product.  ATDS is fully invested in the drone world and are constantly honing their craft with the latest drone systems and processing software.  Let us do the work for you!

  • FAA Regulations & Laws

The FAA is cracking down with their drone regulations for commercial use. As of 2016 the FAA requires the Certification 107 for all commercial drone use. Those rules were updated in January 2021 to further detail who does or doesn’t need their Cert. 107. Essentially, anytime a drone is used for, or perceived as being used for, revenue generating purposes you are required by Federal Law to get your FAA certification 107. Recent articles released by drone industry go-to sources say that the use of drones is ever growing to the point where Local law enforcement around the country are being trained on how to approach drone operators and pose the appropriate questions regarding drone use. Additionally, as of September 16, 2023 all commercial drones are required to carry “Remote ID” (although the FAA admits they will not enforce or ticket people until March 2024).  Remote ID is effectively an electronic license plate for your drone. You will be able to spot a drone in the sky, access an FAA website and see exactly who that drone belongs to.  Additionally, a good portion of the Roaring Fork, Eagle, and Grand Valleys abut to US Forest Service lands.  The USFS requires a permit for commercial drone use anywhere on forest lands  Are you compliant with all State and Federal drone regulations and permitting requirements?  LET A.T. DRONE SERVICES DO IT FOR YOU!
