Always an easy question……..never an easy answer!
General Considerations:
Where is your project physically located? Glenwood Springs (local) or at 2 hours away?
Does it fall within FAA controlled airspace that will limit our allowable flight height? A lower flight altitude means we have to make more passes with the drone during scanning to capture the same area, which equates to more time on site, more images taken, and more processing time on the backend.
AEC Building specific:
Is your building a 1,500 sq.ft spec home on a flat treeless lot or is it a 15,000 sq.ft multi story home on the side of mountain and completely surrounded by mature trees?
Is it a single structure or are do we also have to scan ancillary structures (barn, detached garage, caretaker unit, etc…)?
Tree Health Specific:
Are we taking photographs of a single tree for a tree removal permit or an entire ranch that consists of dozens or hundreds of trees?
Do you need a high resolution aerial photograph of your property or do you need overall tree counts and NDVI mapping on a planned frequency throughout the growing season?
In all cases A.T. Drone Services is required to go through FAA pre-flight checks for weather, airspace type, ground study of the surrounding area to understand potential obstructions. Then the flight time will vary depending on the size of the subject and level of detail required by the client. A.T. Drone Services can put together a specific estimate for your project based on your specific project needs. Typically, for AEC projects we see costs anywhere from $1,500 for a small single residence with no coverage from trees up to over $8,000 for a large residence occluded by trees with ancillary structures and falling within FAA controlled airspace. For our tree care project imagery for a single tree removal permit will be on the order of $400 and scanning and mapping entire ranches can be on the order of $5000 per trip and size of ranch.
